Open Up and Spend the Night
All I can say is....thank god it's Friday. At this point, I'm so exhausted I could potentially keel over at my desk right now and sleep 'til Sunday. Last night, I braved the rain and cold to make it to the annual ArtWalk gala to benefit Coalition for the Homeless (my favorite charity), and then took a speeding cab all the way uptown to the Guggenheim for the Hugo Boss awards. It was a fun night filled with friends, good art (and a lively auction) and a few too many glasses of champagne, but this morning I looked in the mirror and seriously gasped in horror. Who is this scary-looking person channeling Courtney Love after a bender?? I thought to myself. Well...yeah. It was me. Time for an event/party/alcohol sabbatical. So, I plan to do nothing this weekend but read, sleep, cook, watch movies with the boyfriend, break in a face mask or two, and hang out in cozy clothes (like my most favorite sweatshirt sweater from The Kooples above). What are you guys up to this weekend?
I'm wearing a sweater and shorts from The Kooples, JNBY camel military jacket, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, Madewell socks, Prada bag. All pictures by Mark Iantosca. xoxo
P.S. I'm strangely into sweaters with buttons down the back lately. They're kind of like cardigans worn backwards and the girls in Paris all had them on while I was there last month. Micro trend?

And All Your Love I'll Take To My Grave
I'm taking this weekend off to do nothing but hang out at home, relax, read my new cookbooks (yes, I read cookbooks as though they were novels), finish The Elegance of the Hedgehog, organize my apartment, and watch movies. I'm anticipating a super hectic week next week with Fashion's Night Out and the beginning of New York Fashion Week, so I'm thinking it's probably a good idea to disappear for a few days and recharge my batteries, so to speak.
This is my current favorite sweater. It's Alexander Wang and it's the coziest thing to wear around the house when you're doing just about nothing. I've also been known to wear it straight out at night when I'm too lazy to get dressed for a night out. I think it works pretty well in either scenario--gotta love a multifunctional piece. The socks are Madewell and they are the perfect pair of grey thigh-highs. So comfy.
Hope you guys have Labor Day plans a little more exciting than mine--see you next week. xoxo
P.S. All pics by photographer Mark Iantosca. Hearts.

Just a Few Little Bits I Picked Up
Perfect stripes from Madewell. I always make sure to refresh my stock of these shirts every season. Such a great classic. Madewell sailaway tee, $55, at madewell.com.
Total impulse buy at Topshop. I liked it because it looks like a dreamcatcher. Maybe I'll hang it over my bed instead of using it as a necklace. Topshop necklace, $28, at Topshop stores.
Random lingerie slip-skirt from Topshop. It's actually a lot more nude than it seems in the picture--I'm into nudes, creams, and pale pale beige ballerina pinks for fall. Topshop lace zip skirt, $50, at topshop.com.
First hat buy of the season! I love cozy knit hats during fall/winter. Topshop bow beret, $16, at topshop.com.
FYI--Madewell has the best socks. I've been looking for a good pair of over the knee ones and the dark slate gray ones in the middle are just about perfect. Also, love love love the perfect shade of gray on the trouser socks to the right. Madewell socks, $10.50-$16.50, at madewell.com.
