In the Market: Home Decor

I've been on a bit of a home kick lately--during the holidays when I had way too much time on my hands, I cleaned out my closets about four times, gave away heaping bagfuls of clothes and shoes, bought every new cookbook under the sun, and invested in a few colorful Jonathan Adler throw pillows (like #2 above) to liven up my mostly-white apartment.

Ever since, I've taken to browsing around on the web for more knick-knacks to add to my growing collection of home decor objects. More than anything, I think it's the interesting little unnecessary touches you have hanging around your home that end up injecting the most personality into it; whether it's a golden piggy standing upright on your dresser, a lipstick red enamel frame, a candle that smells like bourbon, a daisy decoupage bell jar, or some other quirky thing entirely, there's no better way to get into a good frame of mind than surrounding yourself with objects of beauty that you love. xo

Some of my recent favorite discoveries:

1. John Derian white daisies mini-dome, $320, at johnderian.com
2. Jonathan Adler navy and green cross pillow, $68.60, at jonathanadler.com
3. NEST Wild Oats & Bourbon votive candle, $14, at bergdorfgoodman.com
4. George Nelson sunburst clock, $385, at momastore.org
5. Harry Allen bank, $285, at mossonline.com
6. Adrienne Landau leopard print ottoman, $1,295, at barneys.com
7. Syrie Maugham: Staging Glamorous Interiors, by Pauline C. Metcalf, $75, at barnesandnoble.com
8. Jonathan Adler enamel queen anne frame, $78, at jonathanadler.com
